Based on publicly available AIS data (Automatic Identification System-tracks marine vessels) and visualizations of global ocean currents, this piece is a small cross section of cargo and tanker traffic referencing ship tracks, ship traffic and channels employed for the transportation of goods. The color running along the sides corresponds to cargo ship and standard RAL colors for shipping containers.
