Permian Lines 2026

In Permian Lines traces the vast extractive networks of the Permian Basin, a major oil, natural gas, and potash-producing region in New Mexico and Texas. Drawing on satellite imagery and field research, she maps how resources are pulled from the earth and dispersed across global systems. Layering satellite imagery, hand-cut forms, steam-bent ash, and glittering potash—an essential mineral for fertilizer—she constructs a visual web of pipelines, refineries, and distribution routes. Especially striking is video created with an optical gas imaging camera, exposing the invisible emissions released into the atmosphere through the refinery process. Permian Lines reveals how often overlooked systems of extraction impact our environment as they reshape our broader global and economic systems.
